How lame has society for youths become?

Teenagers are now so suckered into using websites such as myspace, bebo or facebook to upload a profile about themselves and connect with other people. However is this reality? Arent teens just being suckered into a reality and fictitous world created solely for the purpose of making a person seem more interesting than they really are. I mean if yo can sum up yourself on a page that basically adds up to 500 words or less, it basically means you dont have one. All these websites are doing is taking the reality of friendship and personalising it on a webpage. Its not real. Its a matrix of deceit. DONT BUY INTO IT!!!

Yup, I agree.

Growing up, on a normal day we had 3 channels on the small 9 inch B%26amp;W Tv set. On a good day we could pick up Buffalo, NY.

So we spent our time constructively, building skills, hobbies.

Today when kids or even grown-ups talk about a hobby or a skill, it's undoubtedly connected with computers.

Sadly even at work, computers have taken over breadboarding electronic circuits (I'm an electronic engineer). I still have my breadboards and I still use them and real hands-on skills to construct, test, debug and prototype my circuits, and I can do it more rapidly than any computer simulation.

As an experiment, I plugged one of my proven working designs into the computer's simulation software to see if the software would match the real world performance. It did not. The simulation software could not even get the circuit started, yet in the real world it works.

Computers are great things but there IS more to life than just typing and downloading and looking at web sites.

With that said, I'm logging off now and I'm going to read a book!

It's not reality and one girl in one of my class said and I quote "Myspace is the Devil." She went on and said that she wants to do other things but once she gets on she cannot get off and gets sucked into a conversation with some old grade school friend. The web is addicting, but it is a socially accepted addiction. It makes it so you can be some who you are not and have 'friends' who like your alter ego and really don't give a darn about you. We are losing our sense of self.

It's very little different from the misleading ways teenagers have acted for many years in RL.

People dress and act and speak in a perticlar way, to give a particular image, even if it's not valid - I did.

Age brings maturity %26amp; that provides a truer perspective of the person - again, for me, that is reflected in my MySpace.

you need to grow up. suddenly teenagers arent allowed to do anything. they arent allowed to go out and meet some friends and have fun. so why they shouldnt meet friends on the internet and talk? they only have to be careful for internet predators and thats it. its much more safer. kids cant buy drugs and alcohol online, and then they cant die while drunk driving on the internet. they only have to be careful for internet predators and thats it. no more worries.

books arent different than computers!!!!!!

on the internet there are pages and pages of so many millions of words, its the same in books. there is no difference.
