America is turning it back on detroit, even worse they are turning there back on a war hero. They produced enough tanks and planes to win World War 2 but know 60+ years later and we are now being invaded by japan(Toyota) and the sad part is that most american welcome thee invaders. Toyota opens a new factory in the US and create 2000 jobs in return Ford or GM has to close to plants and lay off 4000 people. Toyota sounds real good for america! Sad to Say but until recently I was a George Bush Fan. You now what he had to say to detroit. DEAL WITH IT! That Pig. I would like him to tell my next store neighbor that who has been layed off by GM and cant afford to feed his family. America needs to drive Toyota OUT! Do it while we still have ground to stand on.

Foreign cars better than American?..HOGWASH ! The ONLY reason that foreign cars are less complained about,(last year Honda %26amp; Mitsubishi both found to be concieling 70% of their recalls) is the fact that when you purchase that new(or used with balance of factory warranty)vehicle,you must abide by ALL of the scheduled (Kservices)maintenance services (such as 15k,30k,45k,etc.).If you cannot prove these services were performed at an authorized facility,it VOIDS that part of the warranty ! American manufacturers do not subscribe to these FORCED policies.You paid for the warranty in the price of the vehicle,(45% of the vehicle cost),then are forced to spent more money on upholding what you already paid for ! I've worked in the industry for 20+ years at both domestic and foreign dealerships and it makes me want to spit every time I hear "my toyota has 150,000 miles without any problems".That's because you have fixed everything along the way !!!!! WAKE UP PEOPLE !!!!!!!!!Before the japanese started punching out tin cars like candy bars,(with our technology),they would pay twice the amount to have an American car in japan because of it's style,craftmanship and durability.Take that foreign car jibberish and feed it to someone who doesn't know any better !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, but after having my fair share of GM vehicles... GM is the reason I am now pro-Toyota.

Every single GM vehicle I have owned, with the exception of one Saturn, has turned out to be pure hell. Mind you these said vehicles were new, so there were no faults due to previous owners.

Along with the slew of problems I've experienced, they also depreciate in value far more quickly than Toyota vehicles.

And can we PLEASE stop blaming every f'n thing on the President? I mean, really, how pathetic has our nation become to blame everything under the sun on Bush? Oh no, it's raining! Damnit Bush! I'm constipated!! Oh, that's soooo the President's fault, too! Seriously, give it a rest.

Toyota has two production models made here in U.S.A. and look at all the U.S. emplyees that would not have a job.

As a proud owner of a Toyota with over 200,000 miles ( with no major repairs ) i will have to disagree with you. How many domestic can bost of this. I cant think of a one, but many of the imports. If GM, FORD, DODGE would focus on making fewer better quality products they might come out doing a better job of selling more cars and not having to lay off people.

ONE OF THERE BIG PROBLEMS IS THEIR BEING HELD HOSTAGE BY UNIONS AND THE UNION WORKERS--MAKING IT HARDER TO COMPETE WITH ALL FOREIGN AUTOMAKERS. I OWN A FORD MUSTANG AND TOYOTA TACOMA SO I GUESS THAT MAKE ME A TRADER. MOST OF THESE AMERICAN AUTOMAKERS HAVE OUTSOURCED THEIR PARTS TO MEXICO. I USED TO HAUL DODGE TRUCK PARTS FROM MEXICO GOING TO GOOD OLD DETROIT. THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL PROBLEM THIS DOING BUSINESS IN WHICH THEY CAN COMPETE.THIS HAS BEEN GOING FOR 20+ YEARS. THIS ACTION TELLS YOU VOLUMES ABOUT THESE THREE-- THEY DON'T BELIEVE IN THEIR OWN ABILITIES AND THEIR OWN PRODUCTS SO HOW IS AMERICA GOING TO. I agree with Sweet Sarah that unions make it difficult for America to compete with Japan. I believe there was a time when unions were necessary but those days are gone. And though I'm sure there are good American men and women paying union dues I think overall that unions breed a passive work force.

That said I still believe Americans should buy American whenever possible.

I'm in the market for a 2000 Chevy Stepside, 4X2, 6 cyl. auto.

This is our Country and this is our truck.
